Who we are:

The Stepfamily Foundation:
Creates successful management that is particular to the functioning of a stepfamily system.

We counsel people in person, based in our New York City office, and also extend our services via telephone to clients world-wide.

The 21st Century Family:
50% of U.S. families are divorced
66% of families consist of single mothers, single fathers, remarried with children (these parents who do not have primary custody are not counted in the U.S. census),
Each week 1,000 children loose their nuclear family – their mother and father in one home.
…Yet, most family therapists have had no training in how to successfully guide stepfamilies. Traditional marriage and family counselors are trained to work with the biological family – not the stepfamily. As a result, their counseling achieves only a 1 out of 3 success rate. Here at the Stepfamily Foundation, we achieve an 84% success rate using our unique developmental strategies.

Here at the Stepfamily Foundation, our mission is to assist you to make the family as it is now, succeed. We have identified the classic dynamics and have established the proven solutions. Our work is supported by substantial research. We create success with our directive approach by restoring and normalizing the specific functioning and management of the stepfamily.

What exactly is a step relationship?
At the Stepfamily Foundation, we define a step relationship, a “step-system”, as the situation, which results from divorce or the demise of the biological family ie: mother, father and child. Remarriage, living together or dating when a partner has a child or children, from a previous relationship is a step relationship. Legally a stepfamily is created by marriage.
